Olympic skater Tonya Harding as she welcomes a 'healthy and happy' son


U.S. Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding has become a mother for the first time.
The 40-year-old and her husband of a year, Joseph Price, welcomed a baby boy last Saturday in a Washington State hospital. 'Everybody's healthy and happy,' her friend Don Horn said.

'She's always wanted a baby;' Horn told the Oregonian newspaper. ‘She was told she could never have a child ... and guess what? It really is a miracle and she really is very happy.’ The baby was born by Caesarian section and Harding is recovering from the operation in hospital. The couple only revealed that they were expecting a couple of weeks ago. Tonya rose to fame after winning the U.S. figure skating championship in 1991.But she is best known for the attack on rival skater Nancy Kerrigan in 1994.

She married Joseph last year. Joseph, 42, is a Portland area repair man, had a brief stint as a boxer before becoming a regular commentator on U.S. cable channel truTV’s popular program The Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest.
